Astrophoto: The Moon – 01/13/2025

On a long full moon evening, marked by the significance of tilt adjustment, I had the opportunity to photograph our celestial companion in all its glory.

On the evening of the full moon night, I worked on the tilt adjustment of my optical system. Incidentally, the evening turned into the unofficial first light for my new setup, specifically for my mono camera, the ToupTek SkyEye62AM.

Session Analysis

There’s really nothing to analyze here. I had been “practicing” focusing throughout the evening. I decided to try using the video capture feature in StellarMate OS on the Moon. The result was an 11GB(!) .ser video for just 95 frames. I was quite astonished.

The SkyEye62AM, being a mono camera, is truly not the most suitable camera for the Moon. Nevertheless, I was happy to have created an astrophoto again.

Next up should be the “real” first light—with a deep-sky object.
