Markarian’s Chain is a graceful, curving group of galaxies in the constellation Virgo, with its member galaxies lying roughly 54.5 to 66.6 million light-years away, and it reaches its annual culmination at astronomical midnight and is best observed late March.
Two perfect nights in March 2025 — one under the pristine skies of Hoher List Observatory, the other at home under my suburban sky. Luminance captured on-site, RGB from home. Couldn’t be happier with the result!
Markarian’s Chain is a visually striking alignment of galaxies in the Virgo constellation, showcasing a series of gravitationally interacting galaxies, such as Messier 84 and Messier 86. It reaches its annual culmination at astronomical midnight around mid April.
At CS number 16 started something completely new. I shot with a piggyback camera. This evening was a horrortrip, at least i came out with something to show.
