Jupiter and Saturn with the ED80sf – August 9, 2021

Clouds. Week after week! At the beginning of August i had to try Jupiter and Saturn at the same day. Even with bad seeing conditions.

The Clear Sky Session

Astrophoto Saturn Jupiter Clear Sky 19.
July and August 2021 were two month with nights full of clouds.
Jupiter close to opposition and a 1st time test on my APO with ocularprojection at only 600mm with a 6mm ocular.

Jupiter

Saturn

Apparent Dimension of Jupiter

Jupiter (August 8th 2020) with a distance of about 603.193.000 km to earth with an apparent size of about 48,9 arc seconds.

Lessons learned

I had major concerns about getting the planet into telescope with an 6mm lens.

I started without the ocular projection and made use of platesolving as i always do. 1st on a star cluster close to Polaris and 2nd on the object itself.

After that i changed to ocular projection and centered manually on Jupiter and Saturn in EKOS.
